Demonstration of subcarrier allocation switching for Elastic OFDMA-PON

Abstract(in English) Available wavelength resources in optical access network have been depleted as new standard specified new wavelength so that several standards can coexist in the same optical access network. In next generation optical access network require high efficiency of wavelength resources. To realize high-efficient system, elastic lambda aggregation network (EλAN) that adopts OFDM method and tunability of various optical parameters, has been researched and developed. We proposed an OLT architecture that achieves dynamic subcarrier allocation in OFDMA-PON and signaling method that change subcarrier allocation while suppressing transmission quality. This paper describes evaluation of communication quality when subcarrier allocation is dynamically changed using OFDMA-PON prototypes with tunable optical OFDM transceivers. Demonstration of dynamic subcarrier allocation based on downstream traffic amount is also described.
