Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Electrical contacts are separated at constant speed and break arcs are generated in a 200V-450V DC /10A resistive circuit. The break arcs are extinguished by magnetic blow-out. Arc length before extinction for the silver, copper, tungsten, molybdenum, carbon, palladium and nickel contact pairs is investigated for each supply voltage and the arc length before extinction for silver contacts is compared with that of other material contacts. As a result, the arc length before extinction for the silver, copper, tungsten, molybdenum and palladium contacts is almost the same in any supply voltage. The arc length before extinction for carbon contacts is shorter than that of silver contacts when the supply voltage is lower or equal to 250V and the arc length before extinction for carbon contacts is longer than that of silver contacts when the supply voltage is higher or equal to 400V. While, the arc length before extinction is longer than that of silver contacts in any supply voltage.
