Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A number of inverse tone mapping operators for dynamic range expansion have been proposed due to the need to visualize low dynamic range (LDR) images on high dynamic range (HDR) devices. This paper proposes a novel inverse tone mapping operator (TMO) considering singularities for Reinhard's global operator. Inverse TM operations have two applications: generating an HDR image from an existing LDR one, and reconstructing an HDR image from a mapped LDR image. The proposed inverse TMO allows to be applied to both applications. When the inverse transform of Reinhard's global operator is performed, two parameters $alpha$ and $overline{L}_w$ are generally needed to be stored. The proposed method enables to carry out the inverse transform with only one parameter by considering singularities in Reinhard's global operator. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed inverse TMO by comparing the proposed one with conventional ones.
