Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The shoulder motion has a high degree-of-freedom as well as a wide range of motion, which is accomplished by a complex joint structure consisting of four bones and coordinated activities of shoulder muscles. Muscle activities of the shoulder have been analyzed by means of computer simulation, due to the difficulty of electro-myographic measurement. We also constructed a precise musculoskeletal model of the shoulder consisting of bone-, motion- and muscle-models, in order to estimate activities of scapulohumeral muscles during the elevation of the upper arm. Although the motion of the scapula has been included in the motion model, activities of axioscapular muscles moving the scapula has yet to be estimated. Then we added those muscles to the previous model in this study, in order to estimate their activities during the abduction in the scapular plane on the assumption that the minimum motion point of the scapula should be a fixed rotation center. Simulation results demonstrated that dominant axioscapular muscles for elevating the upper arm, such as serratus anterior and trapezius, were activated in a manner without conflicting conventional anatomical and physiological knowledge, while remaining muscles were activated only a little.
