Improved Extraction Method for Coupling-Matrix of Microstrip Bandpass Filters with Lossy Input/Output Lines

Abstract(in English) A coupling matrix extraction technique is very useful for designs and tunings of microwave bandpass filters. In recent years, a coupling matrix extraction method using a vector fitting approach has been proposed. However, it has difficulties that unloaded Q factors of resonators cannot be accurately extracted from planer filters with lossy feeding lines, and also that a frequency-dependent direct source/load coupling cannot be extracted with conventional fitting approach. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a de-embedding method for lossy feeding lines and an improved vector fitting technique so that frequency-dependent direct source/load coupling can be evaluated. As an example, we extract coupling matrices from measurement and EM simulation results of microstrip bandpass filters, which validates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
