Abstract(in English) | Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) of edge computing must enable application service providers to obtain the necessary and sufficient number of VMs that can respond within the allowed delay. On the other hand, infrastructure owners require to minimize the costs on using physical servers while considering dynamic electronic energy costs or resource availability. Referencing the delay between the wireless base stations and the physical servers, and the physical network topology is effective to decide the necessary and sufficient number of VMs. However, the IaaS interface used in the the existing methods would be complicated if application service providers decide the physical servers to place VMs and an infrastructure owner tries to minimize the costs on the physical servers. In this paper, we propose the method that enables application service providers to obtain the necessary and sufficient number of VMs using the simple interface between the application service providers and an infrastructure owner. Referencing the ``virtual regions'' enables application service providers to reduce the requesting number of VMs. Furthermore, the costs on physical servers can be reduced because an infrastructure owner can decide VM placement. |
