Abstract(in English) Terahertz (THz) wave, whose frequency is raging from 100GHz to 10THz, is one of the candidates of the media for short-distance large-density wireless communication and far infrared imaging. We have studied THz wave generation by phtomixing of two different lightwaves. The uni-traveling carrier photo diode (UTC-PD) as the photomixer has been desired to generate a high power but its saturated power is below the value that we need for practical applications. Our approach to increase THz wave power is combining THz waves in the air by arrayed photomixers. For constructive combination of THz waves, we need to control each phase of the THz waves. We have proposed the THz phase controlling system by tuning the chromatic dispersion at an optical waveguide device. In this report, we measured the chromatic dispersion change at a semiconductor phase modulator by our proposed Mach-Zehnder Interferometric intensity modulation method. We also demonstrated tunability of the phase of THz wave by the modulator.
