Abstract(in English) We investigate a compact frequency tunable signal source using resonant tunneling diode (RTD) and a photonic crystal cavity to develop a compact terahertz spectroscopy system. We measured an approximately 30 GHz oscillation frequency change in the 0.3-THz band as a function of the RTD bias voltage. A resonant spectrum of the photonic crystal cavity with a linewidth as small as 34 MHz using the RTD as a signal source was successfully observed. Further, a change in the resonance frequency caused by attaching a 5-μm-thick dielectric tape on the top of the photonic crystal cavity was also observed.
