Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Typically, EEG is measured through electrodes on the skin of the head of a subject. In contrast, I report herein the detection of EEG by remote sensing without any electrode on the skin or the vicinity of the subject. Radar is applied to the EEG detection, serving as an active sensor; a transmitter emits a radiofrequency beam onto the head of a subject through an antenna, and a receiver receives a reflection from the head. The reflection includes EEG components, which are demodulated. The remote sensing has aspects of active sensors, reflection communications and novel brain-machine interfaces. A neuro-feedback computer calculates a control signal based on the detected EEG signal, and another transmitter irradiates a carrier with the control signal in a form of beam onto the head of the subject so as to transform the EEG of the subject to a desired EEG, thereby changing the behavior thereof.
