Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Circadian clock is a non-linear oscillator system in nature. Circadian clock autonomously oscillates in constant condition, and can be entrained by periodic external force. On the other hand, in animals and higher plants, circadian clock consists of huge cell population, and cell-to-cell interaction sustains intercellular synchronization. However, it is known that external force affects mutual synchronization, but it is unknown how mutual synchronization affects forced synchronization. Here, we show that the phase response remarkably changes associated with desynchronization of cell population by modeling of the phase response of oscillator population. This model may be applicable to not only circadian clock but also general non-linear oscillator populations.
