Discriminability of Binarized Event-related Potentials

Abstract(in English) By using basic probabilistic models, we modeled event-related potentials (ERPs) observed by usual averaging and our proposed binarized ERPs to formulate quantitative relation between the two types of ERPs. We modeled discriminability of the binarized ERPs with considering a number of averaging as a parameter. By the model, it is revealed that the binarized ERPs does not have features of original ERPs depending on variance of background Electroencephalography (EEG) and noise, that a threshold for binarization can be optimized for realizing discrimination and to minimizing a misclassification rate, and that a number of averaging is a parameter which decides a misclassification rate in a trade-off with measurement time.
