Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, demand for a network-friendly video surveillance system which avoids redundant video traffic in backbone is increasing. To address this fact, in this paper, we propose an event-driven rate adaptation method using multi-modal sensors. In this proposal, we first detect human movements by using multi-modal sensors, and then control surveillance video quality according to the detected events in order to reduce video traffic in backbone networks. We implement our proposal by using a Laser Scanner, two infrared distance measurement sensors, and a high-quality camera and evaluate the performance of our proposal.
