Abstract(in English) | Exponentially increasing internet traffic requires optimal exploitation of spectral resource of optical network. Therefore, coded modulation is attracting attention as a strong candidate for utilization of spectral resource by switching modulation format in adaptation to transmission condition and improving transmission reach. So far, we have proposed new 4D-modulation scheme, 4D-SP64-12QAM, which enables improvement of receiver sensitivity and simple demodulation process. The square constellation that is compatible with PM-16QAM simplifies the demodulation process considering a multi-format DSP. However, it has been pointed out that multi-dimensional modulation formats suffer from complex calculation process of log-likelihood ratio (LLR) which is indispensable for reliable transmission using soft-decision code. In this paper, we propose inverse code method that is applicable to any other coded modulation. We show that LLR of 4D-SP64-12QAM can be calculated with combination of low-dimensional look-up table and simple calculation based on inverse code. |
