Abstract(in English) Most of living things on the earth have 24hour biological rhythms, whereby they can adapt to the daily light-dark cycle. This autonomous rhythm is called “circadian rhythm”, whose central substrate is the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in mammals. SCN receives the photic information from the retina so as to be entrained with the external light-dark cycle and to control activities in a photoperiod-dependent manner. The population of SCN cells is known to exhibit photoperiod-dependent spatio-temporal synchronization patterns (Inagaki et al, 2007). In this study, a network of oscillators each of which has a velocity response curve as a photic entrainment mechanism is employed to simulate the photoperiod dependent synchronization pattern in SCN, and their possible mechanism is explored.
