Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In daily life, the recognition of taste depends on the color, smell and texture of foods. Taste information is strongly influenced by other senses. This effect has been also confirmed in the physiological and psychological experiments. Multisensory information is integrated in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), which has a working memory function to maintain multisensory information. In this study, we focus on experiments on working memory function of taste and visual information in OFC. In order to investigate the neural mechanism underlying the working memory function, we develop a network model that consists of the network models of gustatory cortex (GC) and OFC. Using the model, we explore the neural mechanism by which the working memory of taste and visual information is generated in OFC. |
