Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Waveguide OMT (Ortho-Mode-Transducer) is one of key components of antenna feed systems for satellite communication. It works to separate or combine vertical- or horizontal- linear polarizations. Recently, a T-junction OMT has been reported. It is formed by a short circuited common circular waveguide section exhibiting two rectangular waveguide ports at the short circuit situated at opposed side walls. Furthermore, it consists of not only a stepped post but also ridges. The use of the ridges has disadvantages, such as the lack of robust performances and the power capability. We propose a T-junction OMT without ridges. It consists of an offset stepped post. The offset stepped post contributes to the matching of two rectangular ports. The structure without ridges is simple and makes it possible to achieve robust performances and to support a high power rating. We fabricated a proposed T-junction OMT in a single piece of an aluminum alloy, using a commercial metal 3D-printer. The target relative bandwidth is 8% in the K-band. The measured results demonstrated a return loss of 22dB and a loss of 0.3dB. |
