Abstract(in English) Space-division multiplexing (SDM) transmission technique using a multi-core fiber (MCF) and few-mode fiber (FMF) is attractive for dramatically increasing the transmission capacity in a single fiber. Recently, the SDM transmission experiments with a spatial multiplicity over 100 have been reported by the hybrid approach using few-mode multi-core fibers. However, the modulation format was limited to quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) in such ultra-dense SDM transmission experiments. It is necessary to realize a higher-order QAM transmission for further improving the spectral efficiency. In this paper, we demonstrated an ultra-dense SDM transmission over 9.8-km 6-mode 19-core fiber using 5.7 GHz-spaced 5-Gbaud DP-16QAM/64QAM Nyquist WDM signals, which results in achieving the aggregate spectral efficiency of 665 and 947 bit/s/Hz.
