[Invited Talk] Performance Effects of DPDK Usage in Open Source Virtual Switches

Abstract(in English) Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) has been adopted to open source virtual switches to realize high-performance packet processing. DPDK is a collection of C libraries, and applications can enjoy its high-performance nature using DPDK API. However, DPDK application developers should understand the DPDK software architecture and the underlying hardware characteristics. In this paper, we explain DPDK internals and performance effects by focusing on existing DPDK-enabled virtual switches.
