Brillouin dynamic strain measurement employing frequency-swept pulses

Abstract(in English) Recently, a lot of Brillouin-based fast sensing schemes were reported aiming to apply to social structure health monitoring. We have studied a method employing frequency-swept pulse BOTDA. The features of the method are fast and long-range measurement. Especially, the method can detect Brillouin frequency shift simply as a peak power shift of received probe in time domain. In this paper, we demonstrate the dynamic strain measurement using the proposed method in 10 km-long fiber with 10 k-samples/s fast sampling rate. Also, the properties of a dynamic Brillouin scattering we used are mentioned.
