Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Sensing technology by automotive millimeter wave radar has been attracting attention for traffic accident prevention and automatic driving. We have proposed a high resolution target imaging technique covering wide area using the Synthetic Aperture Radar as a millimeter wave automotive radar. By using the proposed radar system, we can image surrounding areas like an optical camera, hence it makes target identification easy. In this report, we improve the radar as a polarimetric radar by using combination of horizontal and vertical observation channels. By using the radar, the scattering mechanism according to number of reflection times can be discriminated, hence we can resolve the direct and the multipath reflections. Some experimental results will be shown to verify this concept.
