Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper addresses a method to estimate an unknown location by using ENF(electric network frequency)-based indices measured at seven sites in the Tokyo metropolitan area. This technique can be the basis of forensic technology that estimates the place of arbitrary recording from its electric noises. The half-plane intersection method based on correlation between high-pass ENFs (above 0.26 Hz) measured at different sites proposed in the previous research revealed that poor (below 10 %) accuracy of localization, because of distances between the current measuring sites is ten times shorter (max. 62.5 km) than the those of the previous study. Short-term frequency analysis of the fluctuations of the ENF signals reveals that temporal correlations between the fluctuation energy in the frequency range of 0.4 Hz to 1.0 Hz obtained at different sites are inversely correlated to the geographical distances between the sites. Location estimation using linear regression between the dissimilarities of spectro-temporal ENFs and the geographical distances of the anchor sites predicts the location of a target site with a mean prediction error of approximately 20 to 30 km.
