Iris Authentication using Local Spectral Features and their Relational Operations

Abstract(in English) Recently, methods of personal authentication using biometric features have been attracting attention. Daugman's pioneering method using the Gabor filter for texture characterization is widely accepted in iris authentication. However, one of the issues is the degrading accuracy upon varied observation conditions during authentication. Therefore, in this work, we particularly focused on additive noise among the observation conditions and proposed a method that is robust against noise. The proposed method generates an iris code by using local higher-order moment spectra features and their relational operations. Through the experiments, we confirmed that the proposed method could obtain stable and high authentication rates using noisy images of 30~ 0[dB].
