Abstract(in English) This paper (1) reviewed major previous studies on the subtypes and cognitive impairments of developmental dyslexia which had been conducted based on the information processing model of reading (the DRC model) and considered what kind of subtypes of dyslexia had been reported in different alphabetical writing systems, how prevalent they were, and what kind of cognitive deficits each subtype was associated with, as well as (2) examined future research tasks to clarify the subtypes and cognitive impairments of Japanese dyslexia based on a preliminary study on cognitive and behavioral characteristics of Japanese dyslexic children.
