Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Electrical contacts have been applied for speech path switches and control system relays in telephone exchange systems for a long period (1890~1970’s), till digital systems replaced electromechanical exchange systems. Contacts, that are key parts of reliability, were renewed every replacement of the exchange systems in order to avoid contact resistance failures caused by contact films generated with the passing years. It can be said that history of contacts was one of battles against contact films, which were generated in several years after replacement. In this paper, first, formation mechanisms of surface films, for example corrosion films or catalysis films, are described. Next, a bird’ s- eye view of surface analysis information of the formed films are mentioned, besides practical points on surface analysis methods for the contact films are viewed.
