A study on 64APSK Coded Modulation

Abstract(in English) We’re engaged in improving the performance of 64APSK coded modulation with the purpose of further increasing transmission capacity for 12GHz-band satellite broadcasting. For designing 64APSK coded modulation, we use channel capacity equivalent to the modulation constrained Shannon limit. The 64APSK constellation and bit allocation for set partitioning are designed so that channel capacity is maximized. We also improve transmission performance by applying LDPC code with a different coding rate for each bit as error-correcting code for 64APSK coded modulation. The transmission performance of this method under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) is evaluated by computer simulation. The results show that the required C/N for our proposed methods can be improved by about 1.0 dB compared with the conventional one under the same coding rate of 4/5.
