Healing Effects of Forest Photographs

Abstract(in English) Healing effects of forest photographs were examine. First, forest photos with and without the waterside were displayed on the PC screen as a background image. Second, several forest photographs were compared. Participants of the first experiment were 20 under graduate and graduate students (males) and that of the second one were 51 under graduate and graduate students (24 males, 27 females). Photographs with and without the waterside were evaluated by Subjective Feeling of Fatigue, Profile of Mood States, Semantic Differential method, Attention Restoration Theory, Paired Comparisons and Method of Rank Order. The results show that the healing effects of forest photograph with the waterside were significantly higher than that without waterside. The rank of bright scene photos were higher. Therefore forest photos with waterside and bright scene may make people more relaxed.
