Study on Scheduling for Cooperative Distributed Antenna Network Using STBC Diversity

Abstract(in English) To realize the fifth generation (5G) mobile communications systems, we proposed cooperative distributed antenna transmission (CDAT). We have been studying space-time block coded (STBC) diversity that can obtain large spatial diversity order while using only one or two terminal antennas. Moreover, we have been studying user scheduling scheme (proportional fair (PF),round-robin (RR),and max-C/I) for CDAT using STBC diversity. We have found in our previous work that as the frequency selectivity of the channel gets stronger, the differences in averaged channel gains among active users is substantially reduced and therefore even the RR scheduling provides the link capacity similar to the PF scheduling. In this paper, we evaluate the relationship of average sum link capacity, user link capacity, and Jain’s fairness index, and discuss the impact of frequency-selective fading channel and spatial diversity order. It is shown that for mobile broadband communications using STBC diversity, the difference of link capacities achievable with PF and RR scheduling schemes becomes small and therefore, simple RR scheduling can be used and furthermore that STBC diversity is more effective to improve the link capacity.
