Phase Quantization of Event-Related Potentials by Using Hilbert-Huang Transform

Abstract(in English) We investigated whether information of event-related potentials (ERPs) can be obtained from instantaneous phase of electroencephalography (EEG) which is extracted by Hilbert-Huang transform and quantized into binary values. EEG signals measured in a P300 experiment were decomposed into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) by empirical mode decomposition. Instantaneous phase of the IMFs were quantized into binary values. Elements of ERPs were found in averaged wave forms of the quantized phase.
