Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have shown that the vergence angle changed according to the depth of a target when subjects paid attention to it. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms to produce vergence by paying attention and directing eye with manipulating depth cues and measuring vergence eye movements and perceived depth. The result showed that vergence angle changed only when paying attention to an object with changing disparity. Perceived depth for an object changed either when it had changing disparity or changing size, as expected. This suggests that vergence eye movements when paying attention to an object occurred due to changing disparity, not due to changing perceived depth.
