Abstract(in English) | It is necessary to detect a fault point in a distribution system for accident restoration in power grid. Applying a pulse wave to distribution lines and measuring a reflection, which is called as TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) measurement with utility-pole-distance resolution, wave can detect the fault point. In this report, a distribution line is treated as a three-conductor transmission line with earth ground. Propagation modes in the three-conductor transmission line are derived by inductance and capacitance matrices calculated by electrostatic or magnetostatic simulator. In addition, an elementary matrix considering modes of an equivalent circuit model of a fault point is expressed by impedances and admittances. The elementary matrix is converted to a mixed-mode scattering matrix consisting of the mode characteristic impedances and the impedances/ admittances of the equivalent circuit model of the fault point. Reflection coefficients of disconnection case and short case are calculated as case studies. The calculated reflection coefficients are in good agreement with calculation results using a circuit simulator. As a results, considering propagation modes in TDR method can detect types of accidents in the distribution system. |
