Computer Simulation of Distribution Voltage Profile Using a Nonlinear ODE

Abstract(in English) This report addresses computer simulations of spatial voltage profile in a power distribution network using the so-called nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE). The nonlinear ODE has the displacement defined along a distribution feeder as the independent variable and voltage amplitude as one dependent variable, and its solution represents the spatial voltage profile. In this report, to enable us to conduct computer simulations of spatial voltage profile in general distribution networks with bifurcation points, we explain the boundary condition of the nonlinear ODE posed at a bifurcation point and an iterative scheme to numerically solve the nonlinear ODE, which is formulated as a two-point boundary value problem. These results are applied to a simple distribution model with one bifurcation point, which is incorporated with measurement data on electricity consumption of households in Japan.
