Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present an automatic initial view generation method for a 360 degree panoramic image adaptive to the image contents. Conventional image cropping methods cannot be adapted to the 360 degree panoramic image, because these methods are designed for plane images of typical angle of view. Our method first extracts partial features for each plane image which is re-projected from an input image, then integrates a global saliency map by considering correlation between the planes, which finally delivers an initial view. These processes are constructed by a deep neural network to acquire an overall optimized processing system. Experiments show the proposed method estimates initial views generated by humans effectively and 87% of automatically generated initial views are acceptable to users in subjective assessments.
