Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For the recovery of core optical transport networks after disaster, in this paper, we address an emergency optical network design problem. We take account of both the interconnection of the surviving multi-vendor optical resources and the utilization of the emergency portable EDFAs. The surviving multi-vendor optical nodes [e.g., reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) or wavelength cross-connect (WXC)] and fiber links are the first available resources in disaster recovery. The portable EDFAs are the added emergency resources for replacing the optical nodes which are either destroyed or down due to the power outage in the disaster so as to satisfy the requirement of long distance optical signal transmission. We model an emergency network planning using the integer linear programming (ILP) formulation such that the locations for the emergency interconnection of the multi-vendor networks and for the placement of the portable EDFAs are optimally selected. Evaluations results validate the benefits of the multi-vendor interconnection approach and the utilization of the emergency portable EDFAs.
