[Encouragement Talk] Designing Packet Retransmission Strategy for Inter-Frame Loss in LED-to-Camera Communication

Abstract(in English) LED-to-camera communication is a promising method to acquire data from devices which have no display by simply holding a smartphone's camera over an LED embedded in the ``device". Instead of an expensive and large display, enabling this communication can lower the cost and reduce the size of the ``devices", while it preserves the intuition of obtaining data from a display. However, time gaps between smartphone camera frames cause burst packet loss and since the length of the time gaps, i.e. burst packet loss, differs among smartphone models, a general solution which is effective in every smartphone model is required.In this paper, we propose a packet retransmission strategy which can universally prevent data loss caused by burst packet loss in wide range of smartphone models.
