Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | This study seeks to lay the basis for content guideline suitable for outdoors public address systems. We have focused on the effect of inserting pauses between the words in a speech signal. In this study, speech materials were modeled based on actual sentences used in emergency notifications given via the Japanese mass-notification system, J-Alert. By using this model, the effects of word familiarity and inserting pauses on word intelligibility under long-path echo were examined. The results of the experiments suggest that speech signals can be robustly understood despite long-path echoes by using adequate inter-word pauses. |
