Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, satellite laser communication is attracting attention as an important infrastructure to achieve increasing demands for high-speed communication. Free-space optics (FSO) is capable of long-distance link, and can perform high-capacity transmission different from radiowave transmission, because no bandwidth limitation by radio regulation is applied. In the satellite laser communication, however, the variance of laser arrival angle occurs due to air fluctuation. This fluctuation cause a burst degradation of received power. Moreover, it is not suitable for automatic repeat request because channel distance is very long in FSO in general. In those channels, the use of rateless codes which can adaptively change the coding rate will be effective. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an application of Spinal code, which is one of the rateless codes, for optical laser communications, and show an improved bit error rate performance.
