Throughput Performance on 5G Ultra High-Density Distributed Antenna System using Digital FBCP at Low SHF band

Abstract(in English) In order to tackle rapidly increasing traffic, ultra high-density distributed antenna system has been proposed for the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems. To achieve higher system capacity, ultra high-density distributed antenna system deploys many transmission points (TPs) ultra densely and aggressively combines multiple signals that many TPs transmit so that it can dynamically create and control user-oriented virtual cells. However, in ultra high-density distributed antenna system, the insertion loss of reference signals for channel estimation makes channel capacity decrease as number of antenna elements increases due to many antenna elements. To decrease overhead in channel estimation, this paper considers to apply digital FBCP (Fixed BF and CSI-based precoding) studied for localized massive MIMO to ultra high-density distributed antenna system. However, it is required to consider number of beams at each TP and total TPs respectively because beams are created at each TP using many antenna elements. Therefore it becomes problem that candidate of beams is large. Thus, this paper proposes beam selection scheme for ultra high-density distributed antenna system and shows that throughput performance by computer simulation to clarify reduction effect of overhead using this scheme.
