Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is important to define life spheres in which people transport actively. For instance, such spheres can be regarded as a regional unit of decision making of policies or mitigation of infectious diseases. In this study, we propose a method to define the life spheres employing a clustering algorithm that has been developed in the network science. We construct the network, whose nodes and links consist of grid squares and the number of trips between grids, respectively. We find that the hierarchical life spheres can be automatically detected with the proposed method. We analyze the correlation between the life spheres and the spatial pattern of the spread of infectious disease in a mathematical model.
