Multi Carrier Differential MIMO Spatial Multiplexing for Severe Double Selective Fading Channels

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a multi-carrier (MC) differential multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing employing per transmit antenna differential mapping (PADM) for severe time and frequency selective fading, i.e., double selective fading. As PADM is one of differential space-time trellis coding (DSTTC), it has to employ per-survivor processing (PSP) for its demodulation. Therefore, PADM has excellent tracking performance on fast time-varying channels. On the other hand, MC modulation schemes can control trade-off between the maximum Doppler frequency normalized by symbol rate and the maximum delay interval normalized by symbol period with respect to symbol period. Aiming at basic performance comparison, this paper focuses not on orthogonal frequency-devision multiplexing (OFDM) but on multi-single carrier (MSC). Finally, in the case of 3bps/Hz and 4 receive antennas, computer simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme has excellent block error rate (BLER) performance on severe double selective fading channels of the maximum Doppler frequency normalized by symbol rate is 6% and the maximum delay interval normalized by symbol period is 1/8.
