Abstract(in English) | Cloud Radio Access Networks (CRAN)s are attracting much attention as a promising architecture for 5G systems. A CRAN consists of a Baseband Unit (BBU) pool acting as a cloud that processes all the user-to-Remote Radio Head (RRH) signals sent through the fronthaul links. In this paper, assuming the case where baseband signals are sent via fronthaul links, we propose a beamforming method for sum-rate maximization. In this case, the fronthaul constraint is expressed by the maximum number of users it can accommodate, since each user requires a fixed bandwidth given the sampling frequency. We propose a resource allocation method for sum-rate maximization which employs a zero-norm approximation of these discrete fronthaul constraints. Numerical results show that this method achieves higher sum-rate and fairness compared to reference methods. |
