Joint Estimation Schemes of Channel Impulse Responses and Noises Using M Sequences for Underwater Acoustic Channels

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a joint estimation scheme of time-varying channel impulse responses (CIR) and noises using M sequences. Although channel models for performance evaluation are inevitable in wireless communication system design, there are a few channel models for acoustic communications, e.g., underwater acoustic communications (UWAC). The authors have been investigating channel simulators for UWAC system design using the estimated CIR and noises based on experimental results in actual field environment. This paper evaluates basic performance of the proposed joint estimation scheme, which estimates the time-varying CIR and the noises according to the transmitted M sequences. Finally, computer simulation results confirm that estimation accuracy of the time-varying CIR and the noises on time-invariant channels and time-varying ones in the presence of intersymbol interference.
