T-shaped combiner for metal-insulator-metal plasmonic waveguides and its application on 90-degree optical hybrid coupler

Abstract(in English) We numerically analyzed the performance of a T-shaped combiner in metal-insulator-metal (MIM) plasmonic waveguides. We showed that extreme low combining loss can be realized over wide infrared wavelength region. The combining efficiency can be controlled almost between 0 to 1 by changing the phase difference between two input lights, and it seems insensitive to the condition of unequal input light powers. This tendency is well consequences of output signals in a two beam interferometer. Finally, we proposed a novel optical 90° hybrid with modified T-shaped structure.
