Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We work on automatic Japanese sign Language (JSL) recognition using hidden Markov models (HMMs). In general, sign language consists of manual signals and non-manual signals. In this study, we focused on non-manual signal and propose a method for recognize major four kind of non-manual signal using HMM. We used a depth sensor Microsoft Kinect v2 to obtain feature parameter of head motion. We conducted a fundamental experiment to show the effectiveness of our method.
