Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We expect that personal broadcasting stations appear as a new style of video distribution services in the future. Each station produces its content files such as audio commentaries and synchronizes them to source content files produced by a major broadcasting station. Users of the service retrieve not only the source content files but also the synchronized content files. They can select or switch the content files as they like. For achieving this service, we have been designing an autonomous distributed media synchronization using Catalogue system. This paper focuses on a content switching delay at a client and the number of requests to servers and reveals the tradeoff between them. The media synchronization using Catalogue system causes a content switching delay and the delay is defined by duration of each file. Using a short duration file helps the short switching delay but it causes the increasing of the number of requests. In order to reveal the tradeoff, we measure the content switching delay and the number of queries with changing the duration of each file using a client and a Catalogue Server. The RTT between the client and the Catalogue Server is 10 ms. The result confirms that the switching delay is lower than 200 ms when the duration of each file is 33 ms and the client sends 30 requests per second to the Catalogue Servers.
