FDTD Diakoptics for Analyses of Photonic Crystal Structures

Abstract(in English) The Finite-Difference Time-Domain method of solving Maxwell’s equations is used as an efficient algorithm for the large-scale simulation of complex structures. If we use the concept of diakoptics in the analysis of periodic structures like photonic crystals, there should be a room for increasing the numerical efficiency further more. We do not have to calculate the same components in details many times, which are appeared periodically in the structure. However, diakoptics using the FDTD method is not yet common. The author has reported an efficient formulation of FDTD diakoptics which is capable of analyzing and synthesizing the divided FDTD grids with a high degree of freedom. In this report, the FDTD diakoptics is applied to the analysis of a photonic crystal structure composed of periodically arranged dielectric rods.
