Multiband Wireless Signal and Multi-RAT Transmission over a Seamless Fiber-Millimeter-Wave System

Abstract(in English) Seamless convergence of fiber and wireless systems is considered a promising method for flexible and high-speed fronthaul systems in future mobile networks. This paper proposes a simple and high-speed multiband wireless signal and multi-RAT transmission over an intensity modulation and direct detection fiber?wireless system. Successful transmission of multiband signals, including orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and filtered-OFDM (F-OFDM) signals, over a seamless 20-km single mode fiber and 1-m 92.5-GHz wireless system is experimentally confirmed. Compared to the multiband OFDM signal transmission, the performance of multiband F-OFDM signals is much improved, particularly at the band edges, owing to its better out-of-band leakage rejection. In addition, a simultaneous transmission of multiband F-OFDM and LTE-A signals over the system is successfully demonstrated.
