Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To economically provide higher bit rate services to users, we have proposed the Subcarrier Digital Modulation Passive Optical Network (SDM-PON). SDM-PON has bias and clip sending schemes. The bias sending scheme creates a completely positive signal by adding a direct current (DC) to the electrical modulated signal, and then converts it into an optical signal. The clipped signal sending scheme cuts out the negative components of the electrical modulated signal and converts it into an optical signal. We so far showed the feasibility of SDM-PON that supports up to 16 ONUs for equal distances of 20 km using the bias sending scheme when each ONU uses 16 QAM and constantly sends 1 Gbps. This paper shows SDM-PON using the bias sending scheme is feasible that supports up to 32 ONUs for equal distances of 20 km, and different distances of 2 km to 21 km.
