Studies on Intersystem Cooperation for Smart Radio

Abstract(in English) Smart radio is a technology similar to cognitive radio which can efficiently utilize limited radio resource and satisfy system and user demands by recognizing radio environment and by adapting. An example of cognitive radio system is white space communication system, which secondarily utilizes unused licensed frequency under the condition of non-interfering basis. For further efficient frequency utilization, radio systems should cooperate and flexibly interchange own radio resources. However, it is difficult to cooperate since most of radio systems only operate to maximize own system and user demands. This paper introduces two topics for realization of smart radio systems. At first, we introduce our achievements about a field experiment and development of television white space systems which can coordinate between secondary systems. Then we study how to achieve cooperation in infrastructure sharing which shares RAN (Radio Access Network) such as base station between operators by modeling with game theory.
