Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Space-based AIS is presented as a promising solution to overcome the coverage limitation of ground stations with the potential to provide AIS detection service coverage in any given area on the Earth. In Japan, The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched the second satellite AIS system (SPAISE2 : SPace based AIS Experiment 2nd) mounted on DAICHI-2 (ALOS-2 : Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2) in 2014. The probability of slot collision increases of space-based AIS in the sea around Japan has long become an issue, preventing the realization of practical systems in the marine traffic density area. By space-based AIS and ground-based digital beam forming (DBF), this paper proposes the concept of ultra-high performance satellite AIS to solve the slot collision problem in the blind zone. Simulation results show an improvement of more than 10 times in terms of the detection of ships compared to the operating SPAISEs.
