Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The mammalian brain is a complex system in which anatomical modules are integrated to function as a whole. In order to constructively clarify the neural basis of brain computation, the structure-function relationships in neuronal networks must be studied under a combination of a well-defined experimental system and its theoretical model. We previously studied how the scale of a neuronal network affects its spontaneous dynamics using cultured neuronal networks grown on microfabricated substrates and its computational model based on integrate-and-fire neurons. Here we further extend this study and investigate computationally the effect of modular connectivity in a neuronal network on its spontaneous activity.
